Note:   Competitors may choose to start and finish from either the North or South.

SHIPPING MOVEMENTS: OOD to phone 3305 1700 to obtain shipping schedule from port control before the race and pass to participants so all vessels are aware of what large shipping could be encountered.

Competitors are to monitor VHF Ch. 12 when in the vicinity of commercial shipping channels.

RADIO SCHEDS:

0933 hrs on Ch 72 VHF: Contact Start Boat to register.

START PROCEDURE:

As per AYF Racing Rules of Sailing Part 3 Rule 26.

START LINES:

Northern Competitors: between the Start Boat to Port and Fisheries Beacon (approx. 27° 19.37’ S 153° 06.4’ E) to Starboard.

 

Southern Competitors and Southern Cruisers: between the Start Boat to Port and the Green Entrance beacon to Aquatic Paradise (27° 27.49’ S 153° 13.31’ E) to Starboard.

 

Northern Cruisers: North of the Red Coffee Pot within 50m at exactly 1000 hrs. There will be no Start Boat.   Commercial shipping must not be affected.

COURSE:

Northern Cruisers: from their start follow the same course as Northern Competitors.

 

Northern Competitors:

 

From the start, observing all navigational marks, except shipping channel marks, unless otherwise specified, and then

 

Leave             Coffee Pots                  to Starboard

 

Leave             St Helena Island           to Port

 

Leave             Green Island                to Port

 

Leave             Aquatic Green Entrance Beacon (27° 27.49’ S 153° 13.31’ E)  to Starboard

 

Leave             Green Island                to Port

 

Leave             St Helena Red buoy      to Port

 

Leave             Coffee Pots                  to Port

 

And thence to the finish:

 

FINISH: Within 50 mts of the Fisheries Beacon bearing 090º

Northern Cruisers: FINISH: North of the Red Coffee Pot and within 50m

RACE DISTANCE: Competitors approx. 28 nm  -  Cruisers approx. 18nm

TIME LIMIT: None, see safety regs.

 

Southern Competitors:

 

From the start, observing all navigational marks, except shipping channel marks, unless otherwise specified, and then

 

Leave              Green Island              to Port

 

Leave              St Helena Red Buoy    to Port

 

Leave             Coffee Pots                 to Port

 

Leave              Fisheries Beacon (approx. 27° 19.37’ S 153° 06.4’ E) to Starboard.

 

Leave              Coffee Pots                to Starboard

 

Leave              St Helena Island         to Port

 

Leave              Green Island              to Port

 

Southern Cruisers follow the same course as competitors only as far as the Coffee Pots, then round the Red Coffee Pot to Starboard and resume the course.

 

And thence to the finish:

 

FINISH :   Within 50 mts of the Aquatic Paradise Green Entrance Beacon bearing 090º

 

RACE DISTANCE: Competitors approx. 28 nm     Cruisers approx. 18nm

  TIME LIMIT: None, see safety regs.
  Note: All cardinal marks are to be observed as marks of the course with the “island sides” of the marks being “no go” areas

 

FINISH TIMES: Competitors shall record their own finishing times and submit to the OOD by radio or mobile phone as soon as possible after finishing. By submitting a time, you are making an automatic declaration that you have sailed in accordance with the rules. Yachts not finishing MUST report to the OOD or another competing yacht to be registered as DNF.

RACE FEE: MYCQ members $5.00   Non MYCQ members $10

NOTE: All persons competing in club events do so at their own risk and indemnify the club and its servants. A condition of entry is that each entrant carries at least five million dollars public liability insurance. All sailors should note that the international regulations for prevention of collisions apply at all times.

Have special regard for rule 9 when in or near the shipping channel.
