2014 Sail Paradise

The Southport Yacht Club were delighted to have the performance racing Multihulls compete within the Southport Yacht Club XXXX Sail Paradise Regatta.

Four entrants competed within the Multihull division, with Robert Dean from Cut Snake taking out first place within the division with a series score of 9 points and three race wins.

Fantasia and Rushour were close behind Cut Snake with a tie of 11 points in the series score. The Multihulls had a wonderful time competing off the shore's of the Gold Coast and were looking forward to returning again in 2014.

Unfortunately the extreme weather conditions at the Gold Coast Seaway entrance for the third and final day of racing meant that racing offshore had to be abandoned for the day. The Multihulls and the larger monos ended up having a rest day and enjoying the magnificent sun on the Gold Coast.

We count some very experienced sailors among our members, who have achieved many championships, titles, world voyages, Australian and even world circumnavigations. Club Meetings

The Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at our clubhouse in Trafalgar Street, Manly at 7.30pm, except January, December and April. Offshore Multihull Rating (OMR) System

The MYCQ Administers the Offshore Multihull Rating (OMR) System, which is used to handicap all Multihull Yachts. It is similar to the IRC system used for monohulls but is tailored to be applied to all Multihull Designs. This website provides:

Specification - includes an introduction and guidelines on how to prepare your boat and how to measure your sails
Measurement Form - This form is used when measuring your yacht
Inventory Form - This form is used to record everything onboard your boat at the time of measuring
Excel Version of the above forms
Information on the 2016 review and update.

The MYCQ regularly reviews the OMR formulas by looking at race results and analysing trends and new technologies to ensure the OMR system is current and as accurate as possible.

As with most handicapping systems, it is not perfect and rather than criticizing the system and the people that administer it we encourage you to become involved in the club and contribute to developing the system.
