Bagatelle
Lindsey Cumming launched Bagatelle in 1980 and she was very successfully raced by him in the 80s and 90s. Bagatelle competed in many of the MYCQ offshore events and was nicknamed "BAGS". In 1980 she entered AMOC and won 4 of the 5 races. She hit Lady Elliott in 1980 Brisbane to Gladstone but with only minor damage. 1982 AMOC winner, 1984 runner-up. Second in Gladstone race in 1982/84. 3 times winner of Sydney to Mooloolaba. Twice line honours and handicap winner Melbourne to Hobart, 4 times Melbourne to Devonport, circumnavigated Australia in 1986/7.
In May 10, 2004 Bagatelle hit Scott Reef just south of Fitzroy Island, North Queensland. By the time the salvage crew were able to get her off the reef and transport her to Cairns, Qld, the collision and subsequent pounding had completely destroyed her port hull. Rex Donkin purchased the remains from the insurance company and with the assistance of Brett Crowther supplying accurate plans rebuild the missing hull.
