· MYCQ members have also been invited to join the Race Rally to Noumea.

50thBrisbane to Gladstone Race:

· 8 Official entries with 10 more expected.

· 2 new load cells are on order for the weighing of boats. Having a total of 3 cells will ensure accuracy & reduce time.

· There will be a Meeting with MSQ, Water Police, and QCYC regarding the race start.

Trailerables  Report  by Zebb Peters

· Moreton Bay classic deferred.

· Report on the Port Lincoln Race Week. The Adelaide to Port Lincoln race covered a treacherous156 miles. There were another 7 races in fantastic conditions – 5 to18 knots on water flat. It was close competition between the 22 boats -Farriers & Corsairs. All boats were over the line within 5 minutes of each other.

In Division 1 Morticia won convincingly, breaking the race record by 2 hours with the fastest OMR in the country!

Cruising Report by Ray Perry

Last weekend 6 boats sailed to Deanbillla Bay just south of Dunwich on the western side of North Stradbroke Island- Steppin Along, Shanda, Kestrel,  Ketos & Purr-fik; joined by visiting cat Magic - a newly acquired Schionning ‘Wilderness’ 1380, owned  by Sue’s sister & brother in law, Kim Barton & Geoff Bingham. Magic is on its inaugural voyage - to Tasmania!

There were some fun and games as Cats Whiskers paid her previous owner a visit by rafting up to Kestrel. This resulted in Kestrel dragging back towards the rocky shore below the loading facility. Needless to say the visit was cut short. A great sunset BBQ was had in the trees above the beach. The sunset was glorious, the food and drinks delicious and the conversations flowed under a moonlit night.

The next cruise is ‘the big one’ – the rally to Gladstone as part of the 50thanniversary celebrations. Eight boats are due to leave the week prior to the race, with two planning to ‘follow-the-fleet’.

Social Report by Lyn Wieland

Lyn advised all the pieces were coming together for the 50thBirthday party. “Boardshort & Bowties/Sarongs & Boas” is the theme. It should be a great night so all are encouraged to pre-book. There will be an award for the ‘best dressed’ man & lady as well as great prizes to be won. Our patron, Rob Mundle, will be on hand to cut the 50thBirthday cake.

Media Report for the B2G by Jim Stubbings

· Jim Stubbings was interviewed ABC regional radio regarding the Race and Rally.

· The Courier Mail interviewed Bruce Wieland & Phil Day on board Renaissanceprior to WAGS last Wednesday. MYCQ had organized 6 multis for an on-water photo session but disappointingly the CM photographer did not show as he thought it would rain all day following a small shower earlier that morning, so no photos were taken. The interview may appear in the Sunday Mail Boating section or Q Magazine.

· The Multihull World magazine feature spread of the MYCQ 50thAnniversary & 50thMultihull Brisbane to Gladstone is FANTASITIC! Thank you Multihull World for a brilliant expose.

Gladstone Council Update by Barb Stubbings:

For each Brisbane to Gladstone Race the Gladstone City Council produce a medallion to award to each race entrant - one design for both the monos and multis. This year the Council have struck a separate ‘Commemorative 50thMultihull Race’ Medallion for the multihulls.  We have worked with their designer and the result is terrific.

Ray Perry won the raffle.

Meeting Closed  20.45pm.

Offshore Multihull Rating (OMR) System

The MYCQ Administers the Offshore Multihull Rating (OMR) System, which is used to handicap all Multihull Yachts. It is similar to the IRC system used for monohulls but is tailored to be applied to all Multihull Designs. This website provides:

The MYCQ regularly reviews the OMR formulas by looking at race results and analysing trends and new technologies to ensure the OMR system is current and as accurate as possible.

As with most handicapping systems, it is not perfect and rather than criticizing the system and the people that administer it we encourage you to become involved in the club and contribute to developing the system.
