MYCQ

Are you interested in the Groupama Race? Participate in the cruise to New Caledonia in June 2018  (Sydney / Noumea; Brisbane / Noumea; Melbourne / Noumea or Auckland / Noumea) and then 15 days later the sail to Noumea Race.

Nicky C plans to enter again and it would be great if there were other multihulls involved. They are participating in the 800NM cat 1 race (or cruise) starting in Manly and finishing in Noumea New Caledonia. It is brilliantly well organised. The CNC in Noumea put on a really terrific welcome and make customs and quarantine clearance completely hassle-free. Each participant is assigned a local “godfather” who helps out with anything from recommending a great restaurant to arranging boat repairs. There is a shipping container arranged to transport cruising sails, dinghys etc for the serious racers. The race is followed by a post-race cruise to Isle of Pines, the Loyalty group and/or Vanuatu and is a fantastic social event.

The 820nm biennial Brisbane to Noumea 2018 is the signature ocean yachting event for the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. Division 2 begins their quest on Friday June 1 and Division 1 and multihulls on Saturday June 2, 2018. For more information go to http://www.rqys.com.au/events/brisbane-to-noumea-2018/

To be organised and conducted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, the 1064 nautical mile Sydney Noumea Yacht Race is due to start from Sydney Harbour on Saturday 2 June, 2018. For more information to to http://www.cyca.com.au/racing/sydney-noumea-yacht-race-2018/

Offshore Multihull Rating (OMR) System

The MYCQ Administers the Offshore Multihull Rating (OMR) System, which is used to handicap all Multihull Yachts. It is similar to the IRC system used for monohulls but is tailored to be applied to all Multihull Designs. This website provides:

The MYCQ regularly reviews the OMR formulas by looking at race results and analysing trends and new technologies to ensure the OMR system is current and as accurate as possible.

As with most handicapping systems, it is not perfect and rather than criticizing the system and the people that administer it we encourage you to become involved in the club and contribute to developing the system.
